“Precious Gems” child abuse prevention gala slated April 23

Recent data culled for 2015 suggests some improvement in New Mexico in the area of child abuse, with sexual abuse decreasing by 4 percent, according to NM-CAPP Executive Director Dr. Susan Miller. Unfortunately, physical abuse increased by 6 percent, and child neglect increased by 21 percent over the same period.

FBI honors UNM pharmacy students for tackling prescription drug abuse

The FBI has recognized a University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy program for its work combating prescription drug abuse in the state. At a ceremony in Washington, D.C., FBI Director James Comey presented the Director’s Community Leadership Award to Generation Rx, educational outreach prevention program led by pharmacy students.
