STC.UNM will host its eleventh annual awards dinner Thursday, April 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the UNM Student Union Building, Ballrooms B & C. The event will honor 51 faculty, staff and students who have received issued patents and registered copyrights/trademarks within the past year.

Thomas J. Stephenson, co-founder and managing general partner of Verge Fund, a local venture capital fund that invests in seed-stage, high-growth start-up companies in the Southwest, will be the keynote speaker. Several of Verge Fund’s portfolio companies were formed around University of New Mexico technologies.

The 2014 STC.UNM Innovation Fellow Award will also be presented to Dr. Plamen B. Atanassov, professor in the Department of Chemical & Nuclear Engineering at UNM’s School of Engineering, for his achievements as one of the University of New Mexico’s leading innovators.

Formerly known as the Science & Technolgy Corporation at UNM, STC.UNM is a nonprofit corporation owned by the UNM Board of Regents that helps transfer UNM inventions and discoveries to the marketplace.
