Retta Ward chaired the board of the Office of the Medical Investigator in her role as secretary of the New Mexico Department of Health. In working with her over the past 18 months I found her to be warm, engaged and a thoughtful partner. She brought great commitment and energy to her work and made a tremendous contribution to the health and well-being of all New Mexicans. My colleagues and I at OMI will miss her.

We at the UNM Health Sciences Center are deeply saddened by the news of Secretary Retta Ward’s passing. She was an excellent and experienced leader who was passionately devoted to serving the public. She was truly a pleasure to work with on the board of the Office of the Medical Investigator and as Secretary of Health. With her natural grace and confidence, she put others at ease and had a wonderful knack for bringing people together. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will remain in the many hearts of the many she touched.

Fifteen high school teams and 12 middle school teams registered to be exposed to numerous academic subjects, including math, chemistry, anatomy, science, physics, engineering, robotics, meteorology, earth science, forensics, food science, hydrology, fossils, genetics and more in unusual ways.
