Curet receives award for humanism in medicine

Arnold P. Gold Foundation promotes patient care

Dr. Luis B. Curet, professor emeritus in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, recently received the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) annual meeting.

The Arnold P. Gold Foundation's mission is to perpetuate the tradition of the caring doctor by emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the practitioner and the patient.

Dr. Curet joined the UNM School of Medicine faculty in 1988 as  director of maternal-fetal medicine and vice chair of the department.

During his tenure at UNM, Dr, Curet served as chair of the New Mexico section and District VIII for ACOG, and as the ACOG coordinator for the establishment of sections in Latin American countries with a focus on reduction of maternal mortality.
