Final free HSC flu shot clinic set

Clinic to be held near the UNM campus on Nov. 9

The last of the popular UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC) free flu shot clinics is scheduled to be held on Nov. 9 at the UNM Lobo Care/Senior Health clinic, 1101 Medical Arts Ave. NE, Building #4, Suite A. Shots will be given for those six months and older. These vaccinations are free to everyone.

“More than 200,000 deaths occur annually due to the flu and we know that vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to avoid acquiring influenza.  The CDC recommends vaccinations for everyone over the age of six months.  It is particularly important for healthcare personnel to be vaccinated since they are in contact with vulnerable populations,” said Dr. Meghan Brett, UNM Hospitals epidemiologist.

Even with the end to the free Saturday clinics, flu shots will still be available at UNM primary care clinics throughout Albuquerque.
