The New Mexico Italian Film and Culture Festival recently presented UNM Children’s Hospital with a check for $37,384.

“We love what we do and we love doing it for the UNM Children’s Hospital,“ Maria Berry, general manager for the festival, told UNM Hospital managers during the presenation.

The New Mexico Italian Film and Culture Festival, now in its eighth year, features an annual lineup of recent, award-winning and highly acclaimed Italian films in their local premieres. The festival, which ran earlier this year in Albuquerque, screens films in Italian with English subtitles and includes a great mix of genres, from comedy to drama and romance.

Since its inception in 2007, the festival has donated more than $230,000 to the state’s only dedicated children's hospital.

UNM Children’s Hospital provides care for nearly 60,000 children, more than half of whom live outside of the Albuquerque area.
