Matthew Wilks photography exhibit and reception at SRMC

A reception for the photographer Matthew Wilks, MD, will be held at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 4-6 p.m.

His exhibit, entitled, “Matthew Wilks: Photographer by day. Doctor by night.” Features New Mexican images captured by Wilks during a trip through the state in 2005.

According to his artist statement, Wilks’ interest in photography began  as a child when he would watch his father, who worked as a photographer’s mate in the U.S. Navy. He received his first single-lens reflex (SLR) camera at 12 and has been making pictures ever since.

The photos are located within the SRMC art gallery located on the fourth floor in front of the main elevators.

The show will run through Nov. 6.
