UNM Hospitals set to cut ribbon on new North Valley clinic

The UNM Hospitals North Valley Center for Family and Community Health holds its grand opening ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 15.  Speakers from community organizations and entertainment from students of St. Theresa’s Elementary will be part of the ceremony.

The clinic, located at 3401 Fourth Street NW, will house a wide range of health care services, including primary care for the entire family and behavior health services. The clinic is one of UNM Health System’s biggest, featuring 22 exam rooms, a radiology suite, pharmacy and laboratory and a large room available for community meetings.

UNM Hospitals planned for the new facility with the help of the community, which provided input during a series of public meetings, said UNM Hospitals CEO Steve McKernan.

“We have been meeting with community members since 2010 to have their input in creating this clinic,” said McKernan.

Up to 20 providers will practice at the clinic, and UNM estimates it will serve 1,500-1,800 patients per month, said Executive Director for Ambulatory Primary Care Services Karen Ellingboe.
