UNM Hospitals to host monthly car-seat fitting station April 3

Pediatric department joins Safer New Mexico Now for hands-on instruction

The UNM Hospitals Pediatric Emergency Department, in collaboration with Safer New Mexico Now, is hosting a child-safety fitting station  Friday, April 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Albuquerque Fire Department #3, 141 Girard NE. This service is free of charge. To make your appointment, please call 272-6024.

According to the National SAFE KIDS Coalition, three out of four car seats are used incorrectly. The car seat checkup is offered in an effort to educate families about the importance of properly restraining children in motor vehicles. Through this program, parents and caregivers receive hands-on instruction from certified child passenger safety technicians who will examine each child safety seat for correct use, installation and recalls.
