ALBUQUERQUE , NM A benefit concert featuring New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Music Director Guillermo Figueroa, and UNM Music Professor Dr. Falko Steinbach, is slated for 8 p.m. Monday, September 26, in the Albuquerque Academy 's Albert G. and Ruth Hanna McCormick Simms Center for the Performing Arts. Also performing will be Albuquerque Academy student Sami Bounkeua on the violin and select Children's Hospital health care providers.
Dr. Dale Alverson will be the Master of Ceremonies for delectable musical fare from master composers like Bernstein, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and others. There will be a gala VIP reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. attended by New Mexico First Lady Barbara Richardson, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, UNM President Louis Caldera, and many others.
Tickets for this very special fundraising event are now available: $35 for students, $100 for general admission, and $250 for VIP seating and reception.
Concert proceeds will help to purchase medical diagnostic and treatment equipment for the new UNM Children's Hospital, expected to open in spring 2007. Once completed, this new, state-of-the-art facility part of the Barbara and Bill Richardson Pavilion will feature pediatric intensive care, acute care and rehabilitation units; a neonatal unit; a pediatric oncology unit; and a pediatric surgery suite.
