The UNM Health Sciences Center is joining with joining with Research! America Monday, November 21 for Public Health Thank You Day. On Public Health Thank You Day, Research! America asks that the public take a moment to encourage policymakers to remember the benefits brought to us everyday through the work of public health professionals. Let them know that by supporting agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which are leading the prevention effort, they can provide a leadership role in protecting the health of our nation.

Research!America polls have found that 74% of Americans say that they and their families have benefited from public health and that 71% say too little is currently spent on public health research. Please let your policymakers know that as they work to set health priorities for our nation, you urge them to recognize the importance of public health by strengthening their commitment to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and to the state and local public health infrastructure. Contact your policymakers now.
