College of Nursing Welcomes New Faculty Hires

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing would like to welcome Pamela J. Woods, Ph.D., Mona Ternus, Ph.D., and Jenny Vacek, MSN, to the faculty.

Woods, brought on as a clinical educator, was previously the chief nursing officer at UNM Hospital and associate dean for clinical nursing services for the College of Nursing . She was appointed to the President's National Advisory Council for Healthcare, Quality and Research in 2002.

Ternus, hired as associate professor, has focused her research on intensive care, trauma, flight nursing and military aeromedical evacuation. She is currently a major in the Air Force Reserves and has served in locations as varied as North Africa to New York City .

Vacek, also hired as a visiting clinical educator, has been working as a nursing instructor for the Albuquerque Public Schools licensed practical nursing program since 2000. She was awarded the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year for New Mexico in 2004.
