The University of New Mexico 's College of Pharmacy , the oldest professional college on campus, is proud to celebrate 60 successful years developing resourceful leaders in pharmaceutical care and research for the people of New Mexico .
Alumni, students and faculty are invited to participate in the festivities. "We have an incredible program here at the University of New Mexico , providing 60 years of innovative education and research. This celebration allows the College of Pharmacy to look at the goals we've met in addition to what we plan to accomplish in the future," says College of Pharmacy Dean and Professor John A. Pieper.
On Friday, October 21, 2005 the celebration will open with a welcoming ceremony at 1 pm . The afternoon will explore the College of Pharmacy 's history as well as its future.
Todd Thompson, PhD, Assistant Professor and 1987 alumnus of the College will present an introductory lecture on Pharmacogenomics: DNA, Drugs and the Future and Joe R. Anderson, PharmD, PhC, Associate Professor and 1992 alumnus will discuss the Pharmacist Clinician Practice in New Mexico . After the presentations, guests are welcome to tour the facility followed by a reception in the main lounge in the College of Pharmacy building.
On Saturday, October 22, Joe McKinney will lead a tour the original College of Pharmacy building followed by a picnic on the lawn. A reception and silent auction will take place at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town at 6pm followed by a gala dinner.
