The University of New Mexico School of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is fast becoming a leader of women's health care in the nation. A major part of the department, the gynecology unit is contributing to its success with national recognition.

Chosen as one of the top 10 clerkships nationally in teaching obstetrics and gynecology to medical students, the gynecology unit is also a member of the select group of university programs conducting clinical research trials using supplemental hormone therapy (contraception, menopause etc).

Other research areas conducted by the department include hormone replacement therapy, emergency contraception, medical termination of pregnancy, pre-invasive cervical cancer and nausea and vomiting at early pregnancy.

excellent clinical care in an environment dedicated to leadership in women's health. Its vision of leadership in women's health is to have programs in women's care, medical education and research in obstetrics and gynecology.
