Dr. Bennahum to Receive Honorary Doctor of Science Degree

David A. Bennahum, M.D., professor emeritus of Internal Medicine and Scholar in Residence at the UNM Health Sciences Center Institute for Ethics, will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree by the SUNY Downstate Medical Center’s College of Medicine, School of Graduate Studies, and School of Public Health.

“We are delighted that Dr. Bennahum’s dedication and contributions to medicine, medical ethics, and community health are being in honored in this way,” said Anne Simpson, M.D., director of the UNM HSC SOM Institute for Ethics.

Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher and the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York will bestow the honor during the commencement ceremonies in May 2017, at Carnegie Hall in New York.

“The Providers” Documentary Screenings and National Broadcast Debut

The award-winning documentary “The Providers,” featuring UNM School of Medicine alumni Leslie Hayes, MD, Matt Probst, PA-C, and College of Nursing alumnus Chris Ruge, RN, will screen on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m in the UNM Student Union Building (SUB). The national broadcast debut of “The Providers” documentary is set for Monday, April 8 on Independent Lens | PBS.
