Dr. Marlene Ballejos Is New Assistant Dean for Admissions

Marlene Ballejos, Ph.D. has accepted the position as Assistant Dean for Admissions at the UNM School of Medicine. She will also practice medicine within the Department of Family and Community Medicine as an assistant professor.

As a native New Mexican, Dr. Ballejos worked to complete all of her education in her home state by earning a Bachelor of Science in Business from the College of Santa Fe, as well as a Master of Public Administration and a Doctorate of Educational Psychology from the University of New Mexico.

Her interests include serving diverse populations, research related to educational disparities and workforce training, and issues related to underrepresented minorities.

She serves as the Diversity Affairs Officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Student Affairs, and as the Co-Chair for the SOM Committee on Admissions.

“The Providers” Documentary Screenings and National Broadcast Debut

The award-winning documentary “The Providers,” featuring UNM School of Medicine alumni Leslie Hayes, MD, Matt Probst, PA-C, and College of Nursing alumnus Chris Ruge, RN, will screen on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m in the UNM Student Union Building (SUB). The national broadcast debut of “The Providers” documentary is set for Monday, April 8 on Independent Lens | PBS.
