FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE A recent gathering in the Domenici Center for Health Sciences Education celebrated an expansion of student resources to include "24x7" access for HSC students to the Domenici Center Student Lounge. The celebration was hosted by the Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center and emceed by Library Deputy Director Janis Teal. College of Pharmacy student Harmony Bowles and School of Medicine student Robert Dietz spoke of the usefulness of gathering places such as the Domenici Center Student Lounge where students can work on projects and study, as well as socialize. They expressed their appreciation of having 'round-the-clock access to the lounge.

HSC Deputy Executive Vice President John Trotter said that extending the lounge hours represented a step towards the important goal of creating additional student activity space at the Health Sciences Center campus. Others in attendance seconded this point, including College of Pharmacy Dean John Pieper, College of Pharmacy Associate Dean Don Godwin, College of Nursing Interim Dean Karen Carlson, and College of Nursing Acting Senior Associate Dean Jean Giddens.

Don Godwin pointed out that Phase 2 of the Domenici Center will house space for student associations, another step forward for student activity space on campus. Groundbreakingfor Phase 2 is expected late spring or early summer of this year.
