NEWS RELEASE March 14, 2008 Contact: Shannon Guess (505) 272-0261 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ALBUQUERQUE , N.M. – Sheena Ferguson, MSN, RN, CCRN, CNS, has been named to the position of Administrator, Professional and Support Services at the University of New Mexico Hospitals (UNMH) after serving as interim since November 2007. As an administrator, Ferguson oversees professional and support services including clinical education, Community Precepting Center, Conscious Sedation and PICC Team, Diagnostics, Environmental Services, Facilities and Planning, Food and Nutrition, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Materials Management, Neurodiagnostics, Radiology, Rapid Response Team, Rehabilitation Services, Respiratory Therapy, Safety, Sleep Disorders Lab and the Service League. The division’s goal is to establish a level of service in collaboratively partnering with the other divisions, particularly nursing, to ensure the best in clinical care. Ferguson has worked at UNMH since 1979 when she started as a newborn intensive care respiratory therapist. She then went on to work in several positions including executive director for clinical education and research, and director of clinical education for the Community Training Center and Human Simulation Lab, also known as the BATCAVE. Ferguson received her master’s from the UNM College of Nursing and was recently awarded as the outstanding graduate alumni. She has also been awarded the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society’s Chapter Awards for Clinical Practice, the Fleck Award for Mentorship and the Marjorie Jaretta Faust Award for Excellence in Nursing Leadership.
