UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in Rio Rancho was one of eight New Mexico hospitals to receive a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), signifying a positive patient experience.
According to a new state-by-state listing compiled by Becker’s Hospital Review, the ratings were drawn from CMS Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems scores in 10 categories: nurse communication, doctor communication, responsiveness of hospital staff, communication about medicines, discharge information, care transition, cleanliness of hospital environment, quietness of hospital environment, hospital rating and willingness to recommend hospital.
"I would like to thank the Inpatient leadership and providers for their focused efforts around patient engagement, as well as the rest of the SRMC team," said SRMC president and CEO Jamie Silva-Steele, MBA, RN. "Everyone in the organization plays a role in ensuring that our patients and families are satisfied."
CMS compiles the hospital star ratings for various aspects of patient experience to make it easier to compare hospitals.
