HSC Clinical Research Center Core Lab Receives Accreditation

The UNM Health Sciences Center Clinical Research Center Core Laboratory was recently awarded accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The laboratory, under the direction of David S. Schade, M.D., was recognized for providing quality laboratory services.

Ronald Lepoff, M.D., chair, of the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation, said that the core laboratory was one of a select group to be evaluated and found in compliance with the CAP. "Your laboratory is to be commended for this major accomplishment," said Lepoff. "It is our pleasure to support the mission of organizations like yours."

The accreditation was based on the results of an on-site inspection completed on April 24, 2002.

"The being awarded accreditation and recognized for providing quality laboratory services is a major accomplishment that we all can be proud of within the School of Medicine," said Dr. Paul Roth, dean, School of Medicine.

“The Providers” Documentary Screenings and National Broadcast Debut

The award-winning documentary “The Providers,” featuring UNM School of Medicine alumni Leslie Hayes, MD, Matt Probst, PA-C, and College of Nursing alumnus Chris Ruge, RN, will screen on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m in the UNM Student Union Building (SUB). The national broadcast debut of “The Providers” documentary is set for Monday, April 8 on Independent Lens | PBS.
