HSC Names Voss Acting VP for Clinical Affairs

NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 18, 2009 Contact: Luke Frank, Media Relations Manager 505/272-3679; cell 505/907-9525 ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Carolyn Voss, M.D., has been named Acting Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs for UNM Health Sciences Center, UNM Hospitals (UNMH). She will assume the duties and responsibilities associated with those offices until further notice. Currently, Voss serves as Executive Medical Director of Ambulatory Services at UNMH, Medical Director of UNM Medical Group, and Professor of Medicine at the UNM School of Medicine. An Acting Executive Director of Ambulatory Services for UNMH will be named soon. Voss is stepping in for Dr. Robert Katz, M.D., who served in the clinical affairs roles, but has been placed on administrative leave in full compliance with the New Mexico Medical Board’s interim order issued August 13. “Our firmest commitment at the UNM Health Sciences Center and at UNM Hospitals is to continue to maintain our high level of public trust, provide our patients with the highest quality of medical care, and protect patient safety," says Dr. Paul Roth, Executive Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean of the UNM School of Medicine.
