Klar named chief operating officer for UNM Medical Group
Jill Klar has been named the UNM Medical Group’s new chief operating officer (COO), the UNM Health Sciences Center announced Thursday.
Klar has served as ABQ Health Partners COO since 2011 and prior to that held various leadership positions with Lovelace Health System, including interim COO for Lovelace Health Plan. She has also held leadership positions with Molina Healthcare of New Mexico and Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque. She will begin her new role at UNM Medical Group Jan. 1, 2016.
Klar, who will report to CEO Anthony Masciotra, will lead UNM Medical Group’s general operations, supporting the UNM Health System and UNM Health Sciences Center. Specifically, Klar will provide strategic direction for revenue cycle, human resources, information technology and organizational communication, along with expansion of the Medical Group's Health System Network Services division, including its Management Services Unit, employed physician group and supporting telehealth initiatives.
“Jill brings an incredible depth and breadth of knowledge in this market, having worked for other health care providers in Albuquerque and New Mexico over the past 25-plus years,” Masciotra said. “We’re excited about the expertise and energy she’ll provide.”

The UNM Medical Group, a not-for-profit corporation organized in 2007, is comprised of more than 1,100 clinical practitioners representing mroe than 150 specialties. These providers are the exclusive caregivers to the state’s only academic medical center – UNM Hospital. UNM Medical Group also is the faculty practice for the UNM School of Medicine and is a multi-specialty group practice that operates 14 clinics serving some 45,000 patients. The group also provides care at the 76 clinics of UNM Hospital. The UNM Medical Group's mission is to provide an innovative, flexible and efficient faculty practice that supports the clinical, education and research missions of the UNM Health Sciences Center, while improving the lives of New Mexicans.
