Anthony Masciotra, CEO of the UNM Medical Group, has been elected incoming chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Faculty Practice.
The AAMC is a not-for-profit association with membership that includes 145 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools, nearly 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems and more than 80 academic societies. The AAMC’s Group on Faculty Practice (GFP) is composed of physician leaders and administrative executives from medical school-affiliated faculty practice plans who work to advance the clinical mission of academic medical centers on a national level.
Within the AAMC, Masciotra also chairs the Academic Practice Plan Directors group and is a member of the AAMC Healthcare Advisory Panel.
Masciotra joined the UNM Medical Group in 2007, and was appointed it’s CEO in 2011. It is the state’s largest medical group, comprised of more than 1,000 clinical providers within the UNM School of Medicine. As CEO, Masciotra is responsible for the strategy, finance and growth associated with all aspects of the practice plan including integration with the UNM Hospitals, UNM Cancer Center and all other clinical enterprises of the UNM Health Sciences Center.
