FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On November 5, 2005, at Albuquerque's Epilepsy Support Group's first annual fundraiser banquet, Alya Reeve, M.D., a neurophychiatrist and associate professor at the UNM School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, was recognized for her outstanding efforts in facilitating the acceptance of epilepsy. Reeve has been with the UNM Department of Psychiatry since 1989.

"Dr. Reeve is amazing with her patients. You can see what a positive impact she makes in their lives," says Audrey Autry the coordinator of the local group. "Dr. Reeve is one of only a few physicians in New Mexico that currently works with epilepsy."

This local epilepsy support group offers a forum for patients, family and friends to cope with epilepsy in a supportive environment and learn more about care and treatment. Awareness is the key to providing the answers to a chronic condition that is often misunderstood.
