FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Beginning August 8, 2005 , those affected by the trials of cancer will be able to channel questions and confusion into a new group fostered by the UNM Cancer Research & Treatment Center and People Living Through Cancer, Inc. The aim of the organizers is to host survivor and caregiver support and education groups on a regular basis.

Group members may include those facing cancer, either personally or with a loved one. Participants can share their worries and their wisdom and receive emotional support from others who truly understand because they have been there. Participants can also learn new ways of coping with cancer or practical information on managing the illness and treatment. Discussion topics will include relationships with family and friends, the art of living fully, accessing resources, and coping with grief and loss. The groups will meet the second and fourth Monday of each month from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
