New Physicians within UNM Division of Gastroenterology

The UNM School of Medicine Division of Gastroentrology within the Department of Medicine announces two new physicians, Drs. Lance Trent Taylor, M.D and Michael Walsh Gavin., M.D.

Taylor received his M.D. degree Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship, UNM as well as an internship and residency at in Internal Medicine at the University of California – San Diego, CA.

He is board certified in Gastroterology and Internal Medicine Board. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American College of Gastroenterology. He previously practiced in Oregon before arriving at UNM.

Gavin received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, Memphis: He completed a General Surgery internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center, an Internal Medicine residency at University Hospital in Memphis,TN and a Gastroenterology /Hepatology fellowship at UNM. He is Board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.

Among his private and academic appointments, he has practiced Internal Medicine in Memphis, Wilmington, N.C., International Medical Missions in Indian and Nepal and as chief of endoscopy at the Albuquerque Veterans Administration Hospital, as well as with the Lovelace Healthcare and the Presbyterian Medical Group. He served as an assistant clinical professor at UNM from 1993-94.
