The New Mexico Poison & Drug Information Center has been granted full accreditation for the next five years by the American Association of Poison Control Centers.

"The American Association Poison Control Centers accreditation process has become more stringent over time," says Jess Benson, Pharm.D., director of the New Mexico Poison & Drug Information Center . "That is why I believe we have a truly excellent program andwould like to congratulate the staff of the New Mexico Poison & Drug Information Center for working hard to create an outstanding poison control center."

The New Mexico Poison Center is a public service program of the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. The center serves as a major teaching site for the UNM College of Pharmacy and Department of Emergency Medicine and is certified as a Regional Poison Center by the American Association of Poison Control Centers.

The American Association of Poison Control Centers' objective is to provide a forum for poison centers and interested individuals to promote the reduction of morbidity and mortality from poisonings through public and professional education and scientific research.
