Office of Diversity Offers Public Talks in Feb

The Office of Diversity and the Robert Wood Johnson Center for Health Policy invites the public to two talks being presented by Dr. Augustine Romero, Student Equity Director for the Tucson Unified School District and former Director of the Mexican American / Raza Ethnic Studies Program, who will be on HSC Campus as part of a two-day visit to the UNM Campus on February 17th and 18th.

Thursday, February 17, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. there will be talk and discussion, “Critical Compassion, Culture, Linguistic and Social Justice Curricular Issues, Outcomes in the Area of the Hispanic Achievement Gap” in the Health Sciences Services Building, Room 105.

On Friday, February 18th, from 7-9 pm., she will speak on “Tucson’s Mexican –American Ethnic Studies: What are the Facts & Why the Pushback?” The talk will be in Domenici Auditorium, located at 1001 Stanford NE.
