UNM Truman Health Services received the award for OUTstanding Medical Partner during the Albuquerque Pride annual The Q’s OUTstanding Awards event held on March 23. Albuquerque Pride is a non-profit, volunteer organization working year round to create LGBTIQ community pride. Goals of the group include: •Presenting a positive image of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) community •Educating the general public on the issues and lives of our community •Providing a safe space to network, come out and explore what the New Mexico GLBT community is all about •Building support among our allies and creating a dynamic economic, political and vocal community for all issues of social justice and freedom. “We are very honored to receive this award. We’ve been providing medical care and treatment to community members with HIV/AIDS for over 20 years and our near future plans include expanding services to the general LGBTIQ community,” said Jamie nkelstein, Program Manager at UNM Truman Health Services.
