UNM College of Pharmacy Welcomes Dr. Thompson

 

Dr. Megan Thompson has joined the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy as the Director of Student Services and Assistant Professor of Pharmacy (Clinician Educator). Thompson graduated from the UNM College of Pharmacy in 2001 with the Pharm.D. degree and was employed as a pharmacist at Smith's Food and Drug prior to accepting this position.

As Director of Student Services, Thompson will be responsible for developing and coordinating the professional student recruitment program, career advisement programs for professional students, and pre-pharmacy societies at UNM and other 2- and 4-year colleges in the state of New Mexico. She will also coordinate the admissions processes for professional students including oversight of interview scheduling and communications with admitted and alternate list students. She will serve as the Dean's liaison to student organizations and coordinate students' participation in national meetings as well as the orientation program for entering first-year students.

Thompson will also assist in the coordination of an over-the-counter medication and alternative medicine course, as well as provide PBL instruction and develop a clinical practice site in an ambulatory setting.

“The Providers” Documentary Screenings and National Broadcast Debut

The award-winning documentary “The Providers,” featuring UNM School of Medicine alumni Leslie Hayes, MD, Matt Probst, PA-C, and College of Nursing alumnus Chris Ruge, RN, will screen on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m in the UNM Student Union Building (SUB). The national broadcast debut of “The Providers” documentary is set for Monday, April 8 on Independent Lens | PBS.
