UNM Family Health Clinic Sponsors Health Fair for Kids

The first annual Health Fair for Kids is set for Saturday, Aug. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will be held at the UNM Family Health Clinic, 1209 University Blvd. N.E.

Free vaccines for children will be administered during the health fair, and clinic representatives will be on hand to enroll children who need a primary care physician. Adults can get a free blood pressure and diabetic screening or visit the education booth that features information on gun and home safety and smoking cessation.

Also scheduled for the day's activities: the Bernalillo County Ditch Witch will teach kids about ditch safety, firefighters from the Albuquerque Fire Department will have a fire truck on display and talk about fire safety and the UNM Hospital Lifeguard Crew and helicopter will be on display.

Kids can participate in a bike safety course from noon to 2 p.m. or jump in the Dino the Dinosaur jumping tent. Free food and drinks and lots of prizes will be given away.

The event is sponsored by UNM Family and Internal Medicine and the UNM Family Health Clinic.
