UNM Pediatrician Receives High Honors

Albuquerque, UNM - University of New Mexico pediatrician Dr. Victor Strasburger received one of the highest honors in adolescent medicine by being named the 2006 Society for Adolescent Medicine Visiting Professor in Adolescent Medicine and Health.

As visiting professor, Dr. Strasburger traveled to Sydney, Australia, Nov. 13-15, to provide his expertise at the Sydney Children's Hospital for the Australian and New Zealand Adolescent Health Conference.

The purpose of the conference was to raise awareness and promote healthcare for young people. Dr. Strasburger gave a keynote address on children and the media in front of more than 500 delegates, including physicians from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Rim countries, as well as New Zealand's Minister of Youth.

In addition to his visiting professor honor, Dr. Strasburger has made several distinguished lists for 2006-07, including America's Top Pediatricians announced by the Consumer's Research Council of America. He is also listed in the Marquis Publishing Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.

Dr. Strasburger is chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine, professor of pediatrics, and professor of Family and Community Medicine at the UNM School of Medicine.

“The Providers” Documentary Screenings and National Broadcast Debut

The award-winning documentary “The Providers,” featuring UNM School of Medicine alumni Leslie Hayes, MD, Matt Probst, PA-C, and College of Nursing alumnus Chris Ruge, RN, will screen on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m in the UNM Student Union Building (SUB). The national broadcast debut of “The Providers” documentary is set for Monday, April 8 on Independent Lens | PBS.
