UNM Rapid Care Celebrates Grand Opening

The staff of UNM Rapid Care in Rio Rancho recently celebrated their official grand opening with about 60 people in attendance. Mayor Swisstack congratulated the staff on their grand opening and stated, “UNM Rapid Care is a much needed service in Rio Rancho. We are very glad you are here.”

City of Rio Rancho councilors Mike Williams, Steve Shaw and Tim Crum toured the clinic with Councilor Williams taking time for a flu shot. Sandoval County Commissioner Glenn Walters welcomed the staff, recognizing Dr. Greg Darrow as a returning family medicine physician to Rio Rancho. Players from the New Mexico Mustangs hockey team attended the event along with representatives from the NM Thunderbirds.

Paul Barabe from the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce assisted the Chamber ambassadors known as the “Red Coats” in the ribbon cutting. Many representatives from the business community were on hand to participate in the celebration.

Brenda Stubbs, Director of Ambulatory Operations, and Carla Cisneros, Rapid Care Practice Manager, spoke on the importance of the clinic to UNM Medical Group’s strategy to improve healthcare in underserved communities.

The UNM Rapid Care Clinic is a high quality convenient care clinic located inside the UNM West Building in Rio Rancho, next to Rio Rancho City Hall, Hewlett Packard and Santa Ana Star Center. A Family Practice MD and Certified Nurse Practitioner treat patients of all ages for common conditions, and minor injuries, and offer a variety of wellness services – all in a patient- friendly environment. Clinic hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, and walk-ins are welcome.
