UNMH Welcomes New Chief Nursing Officer

UNM Hospitals is pleased to announce that Judy Spinella, MBA, MSN, BSN, accepted the position of chief nursing officer.

Spinella's most recent position was as president and chief executive officer for Gunnison Valley Hospital in Gunnison , Colorado . Spinella held director, COO, and CNO positions at other large public and teaching hospitals, including Vanderbilt University Hospital and San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center . She was also an assistant professor at the University of Texas School of Nursing in Arlington for eight years.

"I am very excited to have this opportunity to serve as the Chief Nursing Officer at UNMH. Nursing is a critical part of the work at the hospital and I am honored to be able to lead the nursing staff into a very bright future. There are many challenges ahead and I look forward to working with the nursing staff, physicians and management to meet our goals, "Spinella says, eager to get underway.

With an MBA from Vanderbilt University, Owen Graduate School of Management, an MS in Nursing from Texas Women's University and a BS in Nursing from the University of Texas in Galveston, Spinella brings her experience and innovative energy to UNMH nursing and patient care.
