Voss Appointed Ambulatory Services Med Director

Carolyn Voss has been named Executive Medical Director of ambulatory services at the UNM School of Medicine (SOM). The position becomes effective July 1, 2006.

After completing a residency in internal medicine at UNM in 1988, Dr. Voss began practicing both ambulatory and inpatient general internal medicine at the UNM SOM as a member of the newly formed Division of General Internal Medicine.

In 1996, Dr. Voss was appointed Chief of General Internal Medicine. During her tenure, Dr. Voss oversaw and supported the expansion and improvement of General Internal Medicine ambulatory faculty practice, as well as the creation of the Internal Medicine Hospitalist (inpatient) service. Her extensive background and solid leadership have been instrumental in expanding and improving primary care services at the UNM Health Sciences Center.

Additionally, Dr. Voss has held numerous medical directorships over the years, including UNM Home Care and Hospice, Inpatient Internal Medicine Unit, 1209 Internal and Family Medicine Clinic, and Internal Medicine Primary Care. She currently serves as the president of the national Associated Chiefs of General Internal Medicine.
