Walk-A-Thon to Benefit UNMH Pediatric/ Oncology Unit

The Greater Albuquerque Area Optimist Clubs are sponsoring a Walk-A-Thon to aid the University of New Mexico Hospital Pediatric/ Oncology Unit in its fight against cancer in children. Proceeds from the event will help fund needed supplies and equipment not available through current funding and eventually aid families of cancer children.

This year's Pediatric Oncology Project (POP) Walk-A-Thon will be on Saturday, October 11 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the UNM Track, east of the football field.

Individuals who raise the most money will be recognized for their efforts. There is a $15 registration fee and each POP participant is encouraged to raise at least $100 to help children with cancer. Participants come from businesses, civic organizations, churches, families, youth groups, cancer survivors and their parents.

Registration includes a POP T-shirt and refreshments. For information please call Sallie Rezzo at 864-2988.
