"What Cancer Is and Isn't" to Kick Off Cancer Education Series

Dr. Luis Padilla-Paz, cancer specialist and researcher with the UNM Cancer Research & Treatment Center, will talk about "What Cancer Is and Isn't" to kick off a four-part cancer education series sponsored by the center.

Paz will speak Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Ronald Gardenswartz Jewish Community Center, 5520 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

The series is free and open to the public. Please phone 272-6794 to register.

Paz also will speak about the latest cancer therapies.

The series continues through December with these topics:

Oct. 9: "Bringing Cancer Therapies From the Lab to the Clinic"

Nov. 13: "Cancer Treatment Research Studies"

Dec. 11: "Cancer Resources in the Community"

The UNM Cancer Research & Treatment Center, founded in 1972, is the only health care facility in the state dedicated to both cancer research and patient care.
