UNM College of Nursing among top Southwest nursing schools

NursingSchoolsAlmanac.com has ranked the UNM College of Nursing 15 out of more than 350 nursing schools in the Southwest U.S. and one of the country’s top nursing schools. Nursing Schools Almanac’s research team evaluated 3,200-plus U.S. nursing schools and campuses based on the breadth and depth of nursing programs, student success, value and other measures.

UNM expands nurse practitioner programs

In a bid to boost the ranks of primary care providers in the state, Gov. Susana Martinez and the 2014 New Mexico Legislature included a nearly $1.7 million recurring appropriation to grow the total number enrolling in UNM’s pediatric nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner and certified nurse midwife programs from 24 to 40. The UNM College of Nursing is now taking applications to fill those slots.
