The Pediatric Emergency Department at UNM Children’s Hospital has come a long way over the past 20 years. In its first year of operation, the unit saw nearly 6,000 patients. Last year, the UNM's pediatric emergency room doctors cared for 21,000 patients from all 33 New Mexico counties and surrounding states.
