UNM Health Marches with Pride in Albuquerque

DQ1A1475

As we enter June, we’re greeted by the warmer weather and the celebrations of National Pride Month, a time to recognize the contributions of the LGBTQ community and honor their ongoing fight for equal rights, justice, and acceptance.

National Pride Month is a time for The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center to affirm its commitment to creating a health care environment where every patient, employee, and community member feels seen, valued, and safe. When we foster inclusion and equity, we improve health outcomes, strengthen our workforce, and build trust with the diverse communities we serve. Celebrating Pride is not just about recognition—it's about action toward a more just and compassionate system for all.

At UNM, we are fortunate to have an active and compassionate LGBTQ Resource Center that works to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all members of UNM and our surrounding community. Throughout June, the LGBTQ Resource Center will host or support celebratory events on our campus and beyond, from parades and paletas to UNM United Night at the Isotopes. All members of the community are welcome.

During the Albuquerque’s Pride Parade on June 7, UNM Health was proudly represented. UNM Hospital’s team marched with signs in tow and

Truman Health Services, which is a UNM Medical Group, Inc. clinic, was honored to be one of the grand marshals of the parade. Afterward, Truman’s mobile team provided free HIV testing at Civic Plaza as well as resources and education.
