UNM College of Nursing Honors Outstanding Graduates

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing will be graduating approximately 170 nursing students this summer. The College customarily honors outstanding candidates in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs with awards based on their achievements. Awardees are nominated and selected by their faculty.

Jenna HijarPre-Licensure Academic Achievement Award

Award presented to a pre-licensure BSN student who is a leader and has truly demonstrated the values of the College – Academic Excellence, Diversity & Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity and Respect.

Robin Armell Memorial Award

Award presented to a student based on their overall ability, with particular emphasis on communication skills and leadership potential.

Ryan Nunez and Michelle PantojaNursing Leadership Award

Award presented to a graduating student from any program who has shown outstanding leadership qualities. The awardee is active in developing professional nursing knowledge through membership in professional nursing organizations or participates in college committees or activities and organizations within the community.

I am truly humbled to be considered a leader, especially amongst this extraordinary group of people and during such unprecedented times. To me, leadership is not simply to instruct or dictate but rather to champion and inspire others to reach their goals.  The world has an amazing group of nurses headed its way, and there is no limit to the truly incredibly things we will accomplish!
