NAMI New Mexico Annual 5k Walk

SRMC Team Comes Together

The Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is gearing up to support the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) through its annual 5k walk on Saturday, May 11 at Balloon Fiesta Field. In years past, SRMC staff, their friends and family have come together to raise money and awareness to help aid in the fight to overcome the obstacles of mental illness.

NAMI-New Mexico is an effective mental health organization dedicated to empowering and enlightening New Mexico's diverse population thru advocacy, education and support.

NAMI provides education programs for families, individuals, providers and communities, promotes innovative, state-wide education and treatment in diverse community settings, works to abolish stigma and with all branches and levels of government to promote systems change and expand resources.

Through programs like family-to-family and peer-to-peer, NAMI is able to help families, friends, partners and people suffering from mental illness with recovery assistance, a better understanding of mental illness, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for people with mental illness.

In SRMC's commitment to putting our community first, staff are eligible to earn either level I or level II hours toward volunteer points for the CAP program if they participate in this event.

Registration and participation in the 5k are free. Join the SRMC team by emailing Abby at abhull@srmc.unm.edu.
