UNM Hospital and UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center recognized as two of the “Most Wired” hospitals in the U.S.

UNM Hospital and UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center have both been named to the Hospitals and Health Network's "2017 Health Care's Most Wired" list, released by the American Hospital Association (AHA).

"We are pleased to be recognized as one of the Most Wired - Rural Hospitals," says Jamie Silva-Steele, CEO of Sandoval Regional Medical Center. "We believe cutting-edge technology combined with an outstanding workforce translates into better care for all of our patients."

From smart phones to telehealth clinics, hospitals awarded the "Most Wired" designation have shown the association a variety of ways in which they are using technology to improve patient access, care and security, according to the AHA.

"These surveys ask many tough questions, and to be successful you need to have implemented systems in all parts of the operation," says Matthew H Braun, Health Sciences Center chief information officer.

"The Most Wired hospitals are using every available technology option to create more ways to reach their patients in order to provide access to care," says AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack in releasing the survey results. "They are transforming care delivery, investing in new delivery models in order to improve quality, provide access and control costs."

This year, the association surveyed some 698 participants representing an estimated 2,158 hospitals, in order to investigate how they are using technology to improve patient care, privacy and security. It marks the 19^th year the organization has conducted the survey.
